In past years, the Society had a differentiated annual membership dues structure with various categories. Money is important to the Society, as no organization can survive without paying its bills, but what is more important to its future success is to be able to increase both membership and participation. In 2022, the Board debated the issue and decided to make a radical change in how we structure dues, eliminating the different categories of members and, further, eliminating fixed dues values altogether.
That doesn’t mean that the annual memberships are now free, since the Society’s charter requires us to collect membership fees, and since only paid members may vote in elections.
The Board decided to leave it up to each individual member to decide how much he or she wants to pay for annual membership in 2023, as was the case in 2022. To be a registered member of the Society, you must pay something, but for 2023, it is you who decides how much. The Society looks forward to your financial support – your “donation” -- in an amount you find appropriate.
